Introduction
The Borough of Pottstown, responsible for funding and managing Pottstown Area Rapid Transit (PART), is dedicated to offering a safe, reliable, and accessible public transit system for residents, workers, and visitors. In collaboration with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Borough is initiating a Transit Development Plan (TDP) to assess current transit services and pinpoint areas for improvement. This planning process aims to ensure that PART continues to serve the community’s changing mobility needs now and in the future.
__________
Why This Plan Matters
Pottstown’s last Transit Development Plan was completed in 2019. Since then, travel patterns, rider expectations, and community needs have evolved. This updated plan will reassess current transit services and create a clear roadmap for improvements that better serve the community.
The Transit Development Plan will:
- Evaluate current routes, schedules, and performance
- Identify gaps in service and unmet needs
- Explore innovative, forward-looking solutions
- Recommend short- and long-term improvements
